Dragon Boat Festival

Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month.
Today is the event. We usually eat "tzung Tzu" today and watch the race of the dragon boat.
My mom usually makes tzung tzu every year. It takes a lot of time to make it, and it is complicated to make it. When I was young, I always tried to help her, but I couldn't make the shape like she made.
I have long time did not celebrate the event with my family. When I was young, my family would sit in front of TV to watch the race of the dragon boat and ate tzung tzu together。
Now, since I study here, my mother usually keeps the tzung tzu for me until I go back to Taiwan during the summer.
I really miss my mother's tzung tzu now. I can't wait to go back to Taiwan...

Green Island Restaurant - Chinese food

Last week was a long weekend.
My friend invited me to eat lunch with him in a Chinese restaurant.
It is located at temple city. I never went this restaurant before.
It has very good business. I arrived the restaurant at 1:30 pm. I waited for 30 minutes to get a seat.
Before I went into the restaurant I thought it was Taiwanese food because it names "green island" which is part of Taiwan. But the food was not really Taiwanese style.
I think it might be Hong Kong style.
My friend and I did not eat much, so we only had two orders.
We had " Sizzling Prime Rib Eye Fried Rice" and " Braised Duck with Taro"

I like the fried rice. it was one of the restaurant's famous foods.
I saw most tables have this order, too.

I didn't like the duck that much because it was a little bit salty for me.
but, the taste was not bad. And it looks good.

I think I will go this restaurant again to try other dishes.

LA Prime Bona Vista Revolving Lounge

I like to see night view.
I used to go to see night view at Art Center, but after I went to the Griffith Park,
I feel the view at Art Center is not good any more.
I don't know if you have heard LA Prime Bona Vista Revolving Lounge.
Here is also a good place to see night view.
It is located at downtown LA in one of the tall buildings at the 35th floor.
Inside the lounge, the floor can rotate, so you can see the view around the build and LA.
I also like this place because they provide some special cups, which can represent CA's features.
After you finish your drink, the waiter will wash the cup for you, then you can take the cup with you. This is really sweet!!

I think I won't forget this place, and I will go there again and again.

NBC seafood restaurant - chinese food

Last weekend, Stella, our friends and I had a dinner together in a Chinese restaurant.
Before, we decided to go "boiling crab" but too many people were waiting there, so we changed the place.
Both of us like to eat seafood, so we went to a seafood restaurant. Both of us like the food there.
We ordered five dishes: lobster, seafood soup, clam, chicken with vegetable, and fried fish.

Stella's favorite food is the clam because it is spicy,

my favorite is the lobster

I think the price there is OK. The total costs 120 included tax and tip. So, I think it is cheaper than eating in an American restaurant.

Santa Ana Zoo

This weekend, I went to Santa Ana Zoo. It is located at city of Santa Ana. It is a small zoo. There are not so many kinds of animals. But, lots of monkeys.  The admission is $7 for adult. If you are a member of the zoo, you can get into the zoo for free.

I saw a notice that those animals were given to the zoo from a research lab. They all had cancer. The lab used them to do research on drugs for cancer. I feel so sad for those animals. They might not live long….

Piece of Cake Cafe - tea shop

These days are really hot!!!
In a hot day, the best way to quench the heat is eating an ice cream.
Today, I went to a Chinese store to eat a green tea shave ice with my friend.
The taste was so good, even the appearance looks pretty.

On the top, it is mint ice cream, but I am not really like that flavor....Otherwise, I like it.
There are a lot of red bean and green tea powder, so it is not very sweet.
But, if you like sweet, you can ask the waiter to add some more condensed milk.

In the shop, there are other kinds of shave ice: strawberry, mango, and brown sugar.
I would like to try mango next time.
Moreover, it is a tea shop, so they also sell Boba, green tea, coffee.... it likes "tea station"
By the way, if you buy 9 drinks, you can get 1 free.
